Submersible slurry pump is a kind of centrifugal pump, and play an important role in solids control system. The following is the four faults and solutions about slurry pump.
Submersible slurry pump don’t absorb water.
The reasons of submersible slurry pump don’t absorb water have many possibility, the most main reasons are due to suction pipe block and impeller damage. To solve this problem, the main method is clean suction pipe blockage and repair or replace impeller.
Submersible slurry pump power is too large.
The reasons of too large submersible slurry pump power mainly include excessive packing compaction, friction in pump, bearing damage and pump roll quantity is too large. Solutions of the four faults are unscrew packing gland bolt, adjust the gap in pump, repair or replace damaged bearing, regulating the operation of pump.
Submersible slurry pump bearing fever.
The reasons of submersible slurry pump bearing fever generally due to lubricating oil and bearing, include not clean lubricating oil, lubricating oil in bearing is too much or too little, bearing damage, etc. The main solutions are use clean lubricating oil, according to the requirements add lubricating oil for bearing, repair or replace new bearing.
Submersible slurry pump bearing life is short.
Submersible slurry pump bearing short life is due to friction in pump, impeller unbalanced, foreign body in bearing, unreasonably equip bearing, centre shaft is tortuous. Solutions are adjust impeller balance or replace new impeller, clear bearing foreign body, equip bearing again, change centre shaft.
Matters needing attention of using shear pump
Shear pump is on the basis of existing centrifugal pump theory, through the improvement to develop a new, efficient centrifugal pump, is designed for quick preparation and dispose drilling fluid in the solids control system. The main application is shear polymer clay, it can mix material effectively, fully hydrate material, save material using, shorten drilling fluid preparation time, supply good drilling fluid performance to drilling process.
Matters needing attention of using shear pump:
1 After using shear pump, we should use clear water flush pipeline and shear pump, to avoid leftover block runner and nozzle of impeller.
2 If the shear pump begin to used after nonuse for a long time, we need to fill lubricating oil in combination seal cavity and bearing bore.
3 Before starting shear pump, we must open inlet and outlet valve of pump firstly.
4 Bearing bore is filled in grease about 10~20ml every other week, combination seal cavity is filled in grease about 10~20ml every day.
5 Adjust the small gland of combination seal cavity once a week, When cannot adjust should change the two packing in time.
6 In winter, if the pump will not used for a long time, drilling fluid in pump shell should be discharged, to avoid drilling fluid freeze.
If we can maintain shear pump correctly, the working efficiency of shear pump will be improved greatly, and the service life will be also extended.

Hydrocyclone for desander and desilter
Hydrocyclone is often used to separate drilling cuttings from drilling mud, and often installed on desander and desilter in solids control system.
Hydrocyclone structure
The hydrocyclone is a vessel container with cylinder part, the cylinder part of upper cone is mud inlet room; the outboard install a tangential stock inlet; the underpart of cone is open mouth, the size of caliber is adjustable, use for discharging the solid particles. There is a down inserted overflow pipe on the top centre of close vertical cylinder, and extend to below the stock inlet tangent location. The structure is constituted by cylinder, subuliform tank, mud inlet pipe, overflow pipe, sand settling tube, etc.
Hydrocyclone material
In general, the shell of hydrocyclone is made of cast iron. For improving the wear-resisting property, the inside uses the wear-resisting rubber. For improving the service life further, shells of some hydrocyclones use the polyurethane, both wear and corrosion resistance. About the large-sized hydrocyclone, the shell use the material of alufer, interior use the polyurethane, this not only ensure shell have enough strength, and reduced the weight.
Hydrocyclone installation
The installation of hydrocyclone should be easy to eliminating underflow, and easy to maintain and monitor. Every hydrocyclone group should be equipped with individual mud tank and centrifugal pump. A pressure gage should be installed on the inlet of header pipe to show and measure feed pressure which offered by sand pump.
