Desander slurry separation treatment foundation for TBM

Desander separator equipment is widely used in the purification and recycling of slurry for the construction of hydropower , continuous concrete wall , slurry shield tunnel, etc. the equipment is increasingly becoming a necessity of civilized construction since it not only can cut down construction cost, but also can reduce the pollution of the environment.

DC Machinery is a professional manufacturer for TBM desander slurry separation treatment. Today we will briefly introduce some of the compositions and features. DC’s TBM slurry separation plant is very efficient to process, separate and remove the excavated solids from the bentonite suspension- the mixture of water and thixotropic clay. And the cleaner fluid will be transferred back to the circulation system.

Now there are different sizes for the TBM slurry separation plant available, the small size includes: DCMS-500D (120m³/h), DCMS-1000D (240m³/h), DCMS-500M( 500m³/h), the large size includes: DCMS-900M( 900m³/h), DCMS-1200M(1200m³/h), DCMS-1400M (1400m³/h), DCMS-2000M (2000m³/h), DCMS-2800M (2800m³/h), DCMS-3600M(3600m³/h).

What should you know if you want to buy active mud system

Mud recycling systems were once considered optional equipment. Environmental regulations continue to become more stringent and we must all responsibly make a contribution to protect our fragile ecosystem.

Using mud recyclers are a valuable asset to drilling contractors, as well-conditioned drilling fluid can save resources, time and money by reducing the amount of water and chemicals needed by reusing your bentonite and water. This helps maintain borehole stability with consistent mud properties through the entire circulation of the fluid and you haul off mainly the drilled solids, not the entire mud returns, including the liquid.

Following are some of the questions to ask yourself before making your purchase:

1. Type of drill rig will you be using?
2. Length of your average bore?
3. GPM of my mud pump or do I need a mud pump on the recycler?
4. Type and size of shakers on the unit?
5. Shaker screen sizes and availability, what is “mesh size”?
6. How do I know if the recycler is working?
7. Purpose of hydrocyclones, and how are they rated?
8. Do I need a trash pump?
9. Parts, service and warranty?

Dachuan Solid Removal System For CBM

Coalbed Methane (CBM or Coal Bed Methane), coalbed gas, or coal mine methane (CMM) is a form of natural gas extracted from coal beds.In recent decades it has become an important source of energy all around the world.

Usually coal bed methane exists 1000-1500 meters below ground,so its exploration must be through drilling. And methane is a hazardous gas, when it drills from underground,it must separate by equipment, otherwise, it will bring a bad impact to environment.

solid control system

Dachuan Machinery has a professional solid removal system aiming at the CBM.  This system can effectively control the solid phase content of mud between 5μm~15μm in the process of CBM drilling, and at the same time matching mud parameters ratio, promote drilling mud quality, the mud viscosity ratio can be up to 120s and mud density can be 2.4g/cm3.

Besides, this system can improve drilling speed, extend service life of mud pump and drill rig, ensure drilling safety, reduce labor intensity, in the meantime improve drilling site environment which plays a positive role in environmental protection.

Through R & D, Tangshan Dachuan Machinery mastered the technology of CBM well drilling, coring, borehole connection and well completion, among which the CBM pinnate horizontal directional drilling technology is a comprehensive drilling technology that combined horizontal drilling technology, branch well drilling technology, under-balanced drilling technology, cave well connectivity technology in one.

Why increasing coal seam gas supply will result in higher gas prices

coal seam gas

A coal seam gas processing plant in the Surat basin, Queensland.

Australia is increasing its supply of liquefied natural gas – mostly through coal seam gas production. Usually, increasing supply should mean lower prices but for those living in the eastern and southern states the impact will certainly be higher gas prices.

While this seems illogical the reason is because, as the Australia Institute noted in its report, Fracking the Future, the reduction in price would occur only if “all others things are equal”. And very soon all other things in the LNG industry are not going to be equal.

At present, the eastern gas market services domestic consumption only. And there is plenty of supply to meet the demand for both commercial and household use.

But this year this market – which includes Queensland, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia – will become linked to the rest of the world when exports of LNG from Queensland will start.

Once a market becomes connected to an international market, the domestic price will move to the international price because that is the bigger market. Among Asia/Pacific nations (to whom we export) Australia’s consumption of natural gas accounts for only about 4%:

So the market will be completely swamped by the demand from overseas. The Australian energy market operator predicts demand for LPG from overseas will be more than twice the domestic demand by 2017: And the problem for those living in the eastern states is that the overseas gas price is much higher than the domestic price.

There is no actual “world price” of LNG. The easiest way is to break the prices up into three areas: Europe, Japan and the US:

The boom in prices in the Japan/Asian market since 2003 (ignoring the drop due to the global financial crisis) is the reason for the boom in gas mining in Queensland.

The import price of LNG in Japan is now just above US$16 a gigajoule. By contrast prices in the eastern states of Australia are between US$2-$4 a gigajoule.

There are those who suggest that we can be just like the US, where the price for LNG has dropped drastically since 2008 (when it was roughly the same as Japan and Europe) due to the massive increase in production of shale gas. Thus they argue all we need to do is increase our production of CSG and prices here will also fall.

Alas such misty-eyed views of the gas industry rather fail to acknowledge that the US’s domestic demand for LNG is the biggest in the world. It accounts for nearly 22% of all LNG consumption in the world; Australia accounts for just 0.8%.

Similarly the US produces about 21% of all LPG in the world. Australia by contrast produces about 1.5%: Also very little of the US’s gas is exported – due to significant export restrictions. Thus the US experience would work here in Australia only if, like in the US, our massive increase in CSG was to service just the domestic market.

The Grattan institute last year also looked at the issue of gas and noted that domestic gas prices should not increase all the way up to the Japan price. The Japan price includes the cost of shipping it from here to there – about $5 to $6 a gigajoule. So the “export parity” price would be presently about $11 a gigajoule – still well over double the present price in the eastern network.

The Grattan institute suggested this would see household gas prices in Victoria (the state with the highest household consumption) to rise by about 20% – or about $170 a year for the average household. But given this year NSW gas retailers are already pushing for a 20% increase in gas prices, I’d suggest the $170-a-year increase is on the low side.

The big problem for NSW is it will have a supply problem in a few years – not because of increased domestic demand outstripping supply but because, as the Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics notes, “a large number of wholesale gas supply contracts are set to expire between 2014 and 2018. By 2018, less than 15% of New South Wales’ demand will be met by existing contracts.”

The problem being that suppliers from now on can sell overseas rather than sign another contract at the lower prices being offered in NSW.

So what to do?

Sure we could increase supply through CSG, but it will have no significant impact on prices here, though it may ensure domestic supply – but only if the extra production is not exported. And even then the impact on prices may only be to keep them equal or marginally below the export price.

In WA the government has a policy that reserves supplies of gas for domestic use. This policy has not however kept prices down to eastern network levels, but they remain below the export parity price.

Such a policy in effect subsidises households and gas-consuming businesses. This has the negative impact of allowing inefficient business (and industries) to continue to operate. But keeping the price artificially low also has the impact of reducing the incentive to switch to more expensive renewable energy.

But without a carbon price (and possible changes to the renewable energy target), if the gas price increases, coal-fired electricity will be more economic and our emissions will almost certainly rise.

The Grattan institute recommends against governments reserving supply for domestic use. Rather it recommends allowing the price we pay for gas to be set on the international market much like is the case for petrol.

It acknowledges this will increase costs to consumers and businesses. To compensate it argues that commonwealth and state governments “should ensure that there is an efficient tax regime in place for the gas industry, and that the gains are distributed appropriately”.

A tax on mining to redistribute profits? Anyone care to bet on the likelihood of that occurring?

How to Select the Right Mud Recycling System Equipments

Mud Recycling System

Here Are a Few Tips Before Making that Purchase

One major asset to a driller on location is the right mud recycling system. But, how do you know which manufacturer and size mud recycling system is the right one for you?
There is certain information that you need in order to make a well informed decision and before you cut the check on buying this big ticket item.

The factors that you should consider when sizing a mud system are:

1) Type of drill you will be using
2) The drill rate
3) The type of solids
4) The length of your bore
5) The GPM of the pump
6) The tank volume you will need
7) The number of cones
8) The screen size

These factors are important to know so that you use a recycler that is adequate enough to clean the mud and protect the components on the rig, pump and cleaner. Once you have decided on the size of the mud system you need, there is more information that you should be armed with:

Gallons per Minute: When deciding the size of a mud system that you will need, it is best to base it on 1 ½ to two times the amount you are pumping. Example: If you are pumping 250 gals, you would want to go with a 500-gpm unit.

Trailer or Skid: Depending on your requirements, mud systems can be trailer mounted or skid mounted. Trailer-mounted units require dedicated trailer (built to unit). Skid-mounted unit can be removed from trailer which releases the trailer for other duties.

Screen surface: The more screen surface area you have means more volume that you can clean.

Screen selection: The mesh size of screens is measured by the number of holes per square inch on the screen. Different mesh sizes control the size of the cuttings that you remove. The same mesh size will not work in all drilling conditions. Sizes will vary depending on the size of the cuttings and the type of formations you are cleaning.

Shakers: There are three types of shakers (orbital, elliptical and linear). Orbital is a circular motion and elliptical isn’t perfectly circular — it’s an ellipse or oval. Linear has vibration that is induced by a pair of eccentric (or eccentrically weighted) shafts turning in opposite directions. This type of arrangement allows for the development of straight line or linear motion that can also be produced in a positive (uphill) incline.
While each shaker has a specific place that it will shine like the price, the ability to process heavy clays and rock or fines and ultra-fines, our overall preference is the linear.

Cones: Depending on the size of the mud system you choose, the cone size will either be 4, 5, 10 or 12 in. Each size cone has a micron cut point, which is the size of the smallest particle that the cone can pull out. The 4- and 5-in. cones have a micron cut of 20 microns and the 10- and 12-in. have a 74 micron cut.
Hydrocyclone cones process the liquid at a rate of 50 gpm with the 4-in. cones, 80 gpm with the 5-in. and 500 gpm with the 10- or 12-in. cones.

Cones need pressure to work properly. A normal operating pressure range for 4- and 5-in. cones is 30 to 40 psi, 10- and 12-in. cones is 23 to 35 psi.

Trash Pump: Do you have a trash pump for your recycler? Trash pumps are designed to pump large amounts of water that contains hard and soft solids. Trash pumps are capable of processing materials that would clog other centrifugal pumps and can move hundreds or even thousands of gallons per minute.

Parts & Service: Mud systems have a lot of moving parts that must be maintained in order to keep them in premium working order. If you do not grease and adjust centrifugal packing on a regular basis, it will leak causing not only a mess but also a hazardous work environment.

Bearings require lubrication for long life. Cones can get plugged with debris making them inactive thus reducing your cleaning capacity. Screens get torn allowing trash to get into the system causing plugging problems.

It is inevitable that you will need replacement parts and screens for your mud systems. You want to be sure that you have a reliable source that can deliver the parts you need, when and where you need them.

Customization: What if you want to modify cleaning system? Would you rather have electric or hydraulic? Or paint it your company colors? Can you get an epoxy coating on the inside of the tank?

If your jobsite happens to be in a hazardous environment, you will want to be sure that a unit can be modified so that it is explosion proof.

For overseas jobs, you will need different electrical requirements, i.e 50 hertz as opposed to 60 hertz; can the manufacturer meet these requirements?

There are specialty applications; you should have options for a specialty piece of equipment. Be sure to check what, if any options are offered.

Environmental Awareness: In an age where our environment is a major concern, so should your choice of mud systems. You want to choose a unit that is respectful to the environment and will leave your jobsite as clean as possible.

Training: If you and/or your drilling crew have never operated a mud cleaning system you will want to be sure that you are provided with training. Knowing the maintenance requirements of your mud system will save you time and money. Usually the owner’s manual is sufficient but you may also want be assured that the manufacturer offers training videos, onsite or plant training sessions and the most important, technical support. There is nothing like knowing you have tech support when you are out in the field.

Financing Options: If you have never used a mud system or have limited experience with one, try it before you buy it. Rent a unit to see if it is the right fit for you and your company. You may also want to check if there is any type of financing available.

Warranty: Last but not least — a warranty. Be sure that you protect your investment and be sure of the manufacturer’s warranty. Don’t settle for less than a one year warranty. You need to know that a manufacturer stands behind their product.

Do your research, talk to other drillers, decide what you need and you will be able to make the best decision for you and your company.
